The housekeeping staff at Marshes Shopping Centre are hoping to clean up at the National Golden Service Awards - the most prestigious prize-winning event in the cleaning and support services industry.
In view of the standards operated within the centre, Centre Manager, Harry Traynor, recently submitted an entry into the National awards.
“The Oscars of the Cleaning Industry”, says Harry.
Initial Judging was based on an entry form submission. Standards were audited, with a view to a formal submission to the Golden Service Awards 2009. From this initial audit, it was felt the standard at Marshes was worthy of more than National consideration and Marshes were selected by a judging panel as finalists in their category. 240 entries were initially submitted, Marshes has now been included in the last 70, along with just another two locations selected in Ireland.
Established in 1991 and sponsored by the industry leaders, the Golden Service Awards gives recognition for quality across all sectors. Marshes will now move onto the actual judging stage.
Harry Traynor, Marshes Centre Manager says;
“Over the next month we will be working to ensure the highest standards are maintained within the scheme as we anticipate the judges’ unannounced arrival within next 4 weeks. We are to be judged by someone from the UK who has no knowledge of the scheme. This is excellent recognition for the Centre staff who have maintained Marshes to a pristine standard over the last 3 years and a prestigious opportunity for both the centre and our contractor Momentum Support Services.”
The Award winners will be announced at the Golden Service Awards ceremony at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London on Friday 30 October 2009.
