WHAT'S HAPPENING AT MARSHES?

Bagel Bar, Marshes Shopping Centre Dundalk and Drogheda have scooped the 2012 Green Business of the Year Award, at the Drogheda and District Chamber Business Excellence Awards.

The award was given to recognise Bagel Bar’s initiatives to reduce energy consumption by partaking in the “Louth Energy Efficiency Pilot Special Energy Saving Initiative”.
The initiative was a collaboration between local and national stakeholders (SEAI, FÁS, EI, Louth Local Authorities, Chambers of Commerce and local businesses) under Dundalk 2020 and Louth Economic Forum to prompt the development of a new energy service to business model to supply a dedicated onsite resource to SMEs, using the FAS Work Placement Programme. 

Brendan Gibney, Bagel Bar General Manager said;
‘The scheme involved an intern from FAS reviewing our energy costs and usage with a view to reducing same by 10%. We were chosen as 1 of only 60 small businesses to be included in the scheme and are delighted that our hard work and determination has been rewarded in the presentation of this award.’
